Roland Miller is extremely well-versed in the field of private investigation. He has an impressive resume that boasts over 45 years of experience. His skills span a wide range of investigative work, including surveillance, document procurement and analysis and person location. Miller served for 12 years as an officer for both the Baltimore County and City Police Departments. He has maintained ownership of a private detective agency for 14 years.

Miller is a veteran of the United States Army (Sergeant, E-5).  Miller served as a Military Police K9 Handler before being honorably discharged in 1974. Following his military service, he served the Baltimore City Police Department as an Officer, and the Baltimore County Police Department as a Detective. During this time, Miller participated in numerous drug and homicide investigations, served as an affiant for over 300 search and seizure warrants and has testified in federal and state courts over a 1000 times.

In 1986, Miller opened his first private detective agency, Columbia Investigations, Inc. Between 1986 and 1998, Miller conducted numerous criminal defense and civil litigation support investigations.  Miller represented multiple area banks, assisting them with civil investigations, due diligence investigations and asset recovery. Miller became the only non-police investigator in Maryland to have had an application for an exhumation accepted by the court for the purpose of conducting an autopsy.

From 1998 to 2013, Miller served as an investigator for the Office of the Federal Public Defender. His responsibilities included analyzing case documentation, conducting interviews and mitigation investigations, coordinating experts for cases, retrieval and review of records, court documents , and location and retrieval of relevant evidence and objects.

In 2013, Miller founded Advocate Investigations as a Private Detective. In this role, he conducts criminal and criminal defense investigations, provides civil litigation support, performs background investigations, and specializes in person location.

Miller was awarded an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Catonsville Community College. Miller was vetted by the Maryland State Police and maintains an active Private Detective’s License issued by the State of Maryland, (Private Detective License #106-4572). Roland has also been selected to be a “Preferred Investigator” for the Maryland Public Defender and the Federal CJA panel.
